Camp Howdy is a primitive camp located near Bryan, Texas owned by Girl Scouts Central Texas Council.
Every June, Howdy Day Camp has a new, exciting theme and a chance for girls from Kindergarten to 6th grade to have a great time in the outdoors for a week. The camp is entirely volunteer-run, from the 7th graders to high school graduates who act as "Aides" to the camp to the camp directors to the Camp Howdy Crew, which does trail-clearing and builds some terrific structures to be used by the campers during camp.
While the Day Camp is the main draw at Camp Howdy, the camp hosts many events throughout the year, such as Fall Campout and FoxFire, as well as many troop camping events. Oftentimes, troops of both Girl and Boy Scouts offer to perform some service to the camp, as in the construction of a handicapped latrine or the clearing of trails to the Ginger Freeman wildlife area.
